BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts’ newest congressman Rep. Joseph Kennedy III has been named to two key subcommittees looking at terrorism and international affairs, including in one of the world’s hotspots.
Kennedy, who had already been named to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, said Thursday he’ll be serving on the Subcommittee on Middle East and North Africa and the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade.
The 4th Congressional District Democrat said there’s no region that plays a greater a role in the nation’s safety than the Middle East.
He also said a strong US-Israel relationship must remain the cornerstone of those efforts and will be a top priority for his work on the committee.
Kennedy also serves on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology and is awaiting more subcommittee appointments.
