UXBRIDGE (CBS) – A man in a stolen SUV was being chased by police when he crashed head-on into a pick-up truck Friday afternoon.

Two-car crash in Uxbridge

The chase started after someone called police to report an erratic driver.

Officers in Northbridge spotted the SUV, which they later determined to have been stolen, but the driver took off as officers tried to pull over the vehicle.

The crash happened a short time later on South Main Street in neighboring Uxbridge. The driver of the stolen SUV was killed. His name is not being released.

The SUV crashed into a truck being driven by 30-year-old Anthony Southwick of Uxbridge. He was transported to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
