ROCHESTER (CBS) – A cat on the South Coast is lucky to be alive after a fall from a very tall tree.

The stray cat was stuck in the tree for a week until volunteers finally got her down, but it wasn’t easy.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Kim Tunnicliffe reports

The cat, dubbed “Fortunate” survived a seven-story fall after firefighters cut the branch the cat was sitting on. The cat sustained some torn muscles and frostbite but no broken bones.

Fortunate is now being nursed back to health at It’s All About The Animals Shelter.

Pam Robinson of the shelter says they will accept essays about why new owners would want to adopt the cat.

“The essay will be chosen by our board members,” Robinson said. “And once they pass the adoption process, they will be able to adopt the cat.”
