Woman Struck, Killed By Acela Express Train In Attleboro
ATTLEBORO (CBS/AP) — A woman has been struck and killed by a Boston-bound Amtrak train in Attleboro in southeastern Massachusetts.
An Amtrak spokesman and local police say the incident happened at about 1 p.m. near Newport Avenue and the South Attleboro train station.
Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole said none of the 197 passengers and crew on the Acela express train was hurt. He said train traffic between Providence, R.I., and Attleboro was suspended for an investigation.
He said it appears the person was trespassing on the tracks.
