BOSTON (CBS) – A lane was closed inside the Callahan Tunnel after a piece of sheet metal fell onto the roadway Friday night.

Metal panels fell onto roadway in Callahan Tunnel
The Department of Transportation says the decorative panel, which is slightly smaller than a sheet of plywood, fell because the supports had rotted.
The left lane was closed while inspectors made sure other panels weren’t in danger of falling. Three additional panels were removed as a precaution.
There were no injuries but drivers were dealing with delays.
The DOT says the panels have come loose in the past and they plan to revamp the tunnel next year.
