Man Arrested After State Police Chase On Mass. Pike

WESTON (CBS) - One person is under arrest after a chase along the Massachusetts Turnpike shortly after noon Tuesday.

According to the State Police, troopers began to pursue an erratic driver after he failed to stop in the Weston/Newton area.

When police checked the license plate of the Acura MDX sports utility vehicle, they found it had been stolen out of Holyoke.

After a brief pursuit, the driver lost control of the car and crashed.

Police arrested Roberto Rivera, 33, of Worcester, and charged him in connection with the stolen vehicle and failure to stop for police.

The suspect suffered minor facial lacerations from the air bag deployment, according to police.

The van Rivera struck was being driven by a 41-year-old Spencer man. That man was taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital with minor injuries.
