Fall River Mayor Orders Police Detail At Every School After Newtown Shooting

FALL RIVER (CBS) - Mayor William Flanagan has ordered all Fall River Police officers be stationed at the entrance of every Fall River Public School until further notice.

Flanagan said after the school shooting in Newtown, they will take every precaution.

"There is no price tag that we can place on the safety of our children and I want our parents to know that our schools are safe and that I will do everything in my power to keep our children safe." Flanagan said.

On Tuesday morning, Fall River Police responded to the Frank M. Silvia School after a report of a possible weapon in the school.

Fall River Police gathered the students in the auditorium and an extensive search of the building was conducted by officers and a K9 dog.

No weapons were found on the property and there were no injuries.
