FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) — A senior at Framingham State University has been killed after she was hit by two cars trying to cross the street near campus.
Officials say 21-year-old Colleen Kelly was killed Friday crossing Route 9 just after 10 p.m.
Police say she made it onto the median, but was hit by one car as she stepped into the other half of the road, then struck again after she was thrown by the impact. Police are still investigating, and no one has been charged.
Her father, Dennis Kelly, told The Boston Globe his daughter, a Melrose High School graduate, was an English major and hoped to be a teacher. He called her a “sweetheart.”
Her friend, senior Emily Malley, told the Metrowest Daily News that Kelly was “an old soul with a kind heart.”
