BOSTON (CBS) – The Old South Church of Boston held a peaceful and quiet vigil for the victims of the massacre in Newtown, Conn.
Folk sang, prayed and mourned for those who lost their lives.
“In face of anguish we gather to pray for such comfort as we can,” Reverend Nancy Taylor said.
Each of the names of those who perished in the horrifying tragedy were read aloud along with the ages of the children, followed by a moment of silence.
“It’s just gut wrenching what happened there,” 25-year-old Zach Poldoian said.
Sitting high above the sanctuary remain 28 candles burning for all those who died in the deadly shooting.
“Our message was for the grieving people of Newtown and stand in solidarity with people of Newtown,” Rev. Taylor said.
