GRAFTON, Mass. (AP) — A young female reindeer is back home in Boston for the holidays and resting comfortably after undergoing knee surgery at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University.

Willow, a 1½-year-old reindeer, is in stable conditions after clinicians performed the procedure to treat a condition caused when a kneecap dislocates or moves out of its normal location.

Willow lives with two other reindeer at the Stone Zoo in Stoneham. She was taken to the Cummings School after suffering from a condition known as luxating patella.

Prof. Robert McCarthy, a veterinary surgeon who performed the procedure , expects a full recovery with no limp on the affected leg.

Willow is resting in the zoo hospital at Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, which is managed by a group that also runs Stone Zoo.
