Michael Tantillo in court October 18.
CLINTON (CBS) – A van driver from Leominster will serve time after taking a blind student for a drunken joy ride.
Michael Tantillo, 41, was sentenced to concurrent sentences of one year and one month after an October kidnapping and drunk driving incident.
On October 17, Tantillo was supposed to take a 15-year-old blind boy home from school in Watertown, but instead, he drove around drunk for three hours before finally arriving at the boy’s Clinton home.
Tantillo allegedly did not have a valid license when the incident occurred, and police were waiting to take him into custody when he finally brought the boy home.
The Worcester District Attorney’s office has said time he already served will count toward his sentence.
