ALLSTON (CBS) – An historical stone marker tucked away on Harvard Avenue in Allston is about to get a new look on life.
The monument on Harvard Avenue, which reads “Boston, six miles” and is dated 1729, was neglected for years and went unnoticed by most.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Karen Twomey reports
But a truck damaged the 283-year-old stone back in July, prompting a restoration.
The mile marker, still covered by plastic, was set to be unveiled on Thursday. It did not appear any ceremony was scheduled.
Neighbors say the fact that most people will never see this little piece of history doesn’t take away from its importance.
