NH Boy Allegedly Abused By Mother's Boyfriend Is Improving

BOSTON (CBS) - The child who police say was beaten by his mother's boyfriend in Plaistow, New Hampshire is out of the hospital and with his grandmother.

She tells WBZ that three-year-old James Nicholson is improving. After two brain surgeries he now has his vision back.

Police say the child suffered severe head trauma, burns and bruises at the hands of his mother's boyfriend, Roland Dow.

Investigators say Jessica Linscott, his mom, did nothing to stop the abuse.

Both Linscott and Dow faced a judge via video conference Monday.

They were caught in Orlando last week after dropping James off at the hospital and taking off.

Police found the couple at Universal Studios while James lay injured in a New Hampshire hospital bed.

James' grandmother tells WBZ that she is very grateful for all the love and support from the community. She says strangers have been sending gifts for James to the hospital and she wants to thank everyone.

Linscott and Dow have not made bail.
