BOSTON (CBS) – A piece of local church history dating back to the Colonial Era could be up for sale, and worth millions of dollars.
The Congregation of the Old South church is voting on whether to sell a copy of the “Bay Psalm Book,” which was printed in Cambridge in 1640.
Experts say the book is extremely rare and could fetch between $20 million and $25 million, which would help the church pay its expenses.
Despite its value, many parishioners are saying the church should hang on to the artifact because of its historical and symbolic value.
