The mayor's office and Brigham and Women's Hospital held a news conference Monday afternoon to announce the mayor had been transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
Dr. Charles Morris announced that while in the hospital, Menino had been diagnosed with early stage Type II Diabetes, which complicated his recovery.
Doctors said that the 69-year-old Menino's health has gotten much better in recent days. His spokesperson added that the mayor is anxious to get back to work.
Menino was hospitalized on October 26, after returning from a trip to Italy with a virus.
While he was hospitalized, Menino was also treated for a blot clot. During his stay, he also suffered a compound fracture in his back, which also became infected.
