Mistaken Identity Leads To Arrests, But Not Of Fugitive NH Couple

BEVERLY (CBS) - It was a chaotic night in Beverly when police received a tip that Roland Dow and Jessica Linscott were staying at a home in the city.

The couple, wanted for allegedly abusing Linscott's 3-year-old son, has been on the run for more than a week.

But police tell WBZ-TV that Saturday night's tip turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.

When police arrived at the home around 6:30pm Saturday night, the homeowner told them a young couple was staying with him, and the man's name was Roland.

The couple took off when police closed in.

Police chased them on foot and even brought in a search helicopter, because they thought they were chasing Dow and Linscott.

Police eventually tracked down the man who was hiding in the shed. While his name was Roland, he was not the one they were looking for.

That man was taken into custody on unrelated warrants. His female companion got away.

Police say that while the pair resembled Dow and Linscott and ran from police, it was not the highly sought suspects they were looking for. A woman was arrested for helping this other couple.

In the meantime, Dow and Linscott remain on the run.
