Worcester Tornadoes Looking For New Owners

WORCESTER (CBS) - The Tornadoes will not touch down this year.

The team shut down because of financial problems last season. The city has been working to attract a new franchise.

But the city manager says there's no deal  yet.

So as of now, the goal is to focus on getting a new operation up and running for 2014.

The Tornadoes started the season with high-hopes after signing slugger Jose Canseco to a one year contract, according to an article on Boston.com

That marriage went sour though, when Canseco routinely was unable to accompany the team on road trips due to various legal and physical issues before they cut ties after only 20 games.

Canseco has a lawsuit pending against the team for $840,000 in unpaid wages and interest.
