Pierce Hurts Ankle, Thinks He'll Be Okay

BOSTON (CBS) - Paul Pierce had to leave Sunday night's 103-83 loss to the Pistons with a right ankle injury, but the Celtics captain thinks he'll be find with a little rest.

"It's a little sore," Pierce told reporters Sunday night in Detroit. "I turned it on one of the last plays of the game. But I think it'll be all right, a couple days rest."

Pierce and the Celtics have the next couple days off before hosting the San Antonio Spurs at the Garden on Wednesday night. Head coach Doc Rivers will give his team Monday off and has a light practice planned for Tuesday, hoping to give his team a better chance to recover after playing five games in seven nights.

None of the Celtics played particularly well in Detroit, with Pierce scoring just 13 points on 5-for-13 shooting over 29 minutes on the floor.

For the season, Pierce is averaging a team-high 19.3 points-per-game.
