State Police were able to rescue the horses after the crash.
WRENTHAM (CBC) – One of the two horses injured when a trailer tipped over on I-495 Tuesday has been euthanized.
Dr. Carl Kirker, the head of Tufts University’s Hospital For Large Animals, said the horse had to be put down due to the extent of its injuries.
Kirker-Head said the other horse would undergo surgical evaluation and exploration of its wounds Wednesday.
The trailer carrying the horses tipped over late Tuesday morning as it took a curved road connecting Route 1A to Route 495 northbound in Wrentham.
The horses were able to walk on their own after they were rescued from the trailer.
There is no word on what caused the crash.
