FAIRHAVEN (CBS) – A person was found dead after a house fire on Mill Road in Fairhaven late Thursday morning.
Wayne Olivera, public information officer for the Fairhaven Fire Department said they found an unresponsive elderly female in an upstairs in-law apartment. The woman was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital.
Olivera said a second woman – an 82-year-old, tried to extinguish the fire in the kitchen before making her way out of the home.
The woman collapsed outside the home, Olivera said. That woman was also taken to the hospital.
“It looks accidental,” Olivera said. “It was in the kitchen, near the stove.”
Police have not released the identities of the victims.
No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
