BOSTON (CBS) – Mayor Menino is expected to remain in the hospital through the weekend, according to a spokesperson.
Menino was admitted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital 13 days ago for a viral infection and a blood clot. At some point during his hospital stay, the mayor suffered a back injury as well.
Spokesperson Dot Joyce said Menino remains in the hospital recovering and a release date had not been set.
Last week, Joyce had said Menino was expected to be released in a few days.
Joyce said last week that Menino returned from a trip to Italy and wasn’t feeling well. After a series of tests, doctors determined it was a virus.
Menino has had a number of documented recent health problems, including in 2010, he was hospitalized after a cut he got on his elbow during a trip to Italy became infected.
