Man Poses As Water Department Worker, Steals Woman's Cordless Phone

BOSTON (CBS) - Police say a man, posing as a water department employee, robbed a woman in her South Boston apartment.

The woman told police that when she asked for the man's credentials before entering her apartment, he insisted he enter to fix a leak next door and forced his way in.

He then turned on the water in the tub and went into the bathroom, police said.

When he was gone, the woman realized her white, cordless phone was missing from the bedroom.

Police say that this had happened three other times and that the person had stolen money from the woman's closet during the previous occasions.
