Gresh & Zo: Why Give Ortiz Two Years Now?

The Boston Red Sox announced on Monday that they and David Ortiz have agreed to a two-year, $26 million extension through 2014.

Gresh & Zo started off discussing Ortiz’ new deal that will keep him in town for his 11th and 12th seasons with the Sox.

Last year the Sox were not willing to give Ortiz a two-year deal, why now? Is Ortiz the leader of the team still or is he going to decline from here on in?
