Heyman: Red Sox, Cubs Among Teams In On Dan Haren

BOSTON (CBS) -  Angels starting pitcher Dan Haren is expected to be traded at some point on Friday, and the Boston Red Sox are one of the teams in on the former 16-game winner.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman is reporting both the Red Sox and Chicago Cubs are among the teams in on Haren, who has a $15.5-million option or $3.5-million buyout with the Angels.

The Angels have to make a decision on Haren on Friday, and the pitcher has told the LA Times he expects to be dealt.

Heyman reports the Red Sox have been interested in Haren for some time, but the Cubs are a new contender to land the right-hander.

There is a chance the Angels could pick up Haren's option and deal him later, but Heyman thinks it's more likely they deal him or decline his option on Friday.

The Red Sox can use some help in their rotation, with Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz and John Lackey making up their front end of the rotation for next season.
