At Home With Senator Scott Brown And His Family

WRENTHAM (CBS) – WBZ-TV's Lisa Hughes interviewed Senator Scott Brown about his tough re-election campaign. Lisa spent time with Brown, his wife Gail, and their two daughters at their home in Wrentham.

Brown says he was surprised by the gridlock in Washington and touted his independence in the GOP. "In the middle there is a group of vanishing people, moderates like me," he says.

Gail opened up about the night they met.

"He didn't take my phone number or ask me for my phone number," she says. "He gave me his number and said, 'if you ever want to catch a movie, give me a call."

"And she asked me to marry her," says Brown.

He calls his daughters, Ayla and Arianna, his proudest accomplishment. They still joke about Election Night 2010 when he told the celebrating crowd they were both single.

Earlier this year, Brown became a colonel in the National Guard. He tells Lisa his "guilty pleasure" is sneaking in bike rides and workouts and he's not afraid of housework.

Brown enjoys being home, but what he really wants is another term solving problems in Washington.

"I'm so proud to be the Senator from Massachusetts," says Brown. "It's the greatest honor I've ever had in my life."

An interview with Senator Brown's Democratic challenger, Elizabeth Warren, will air Friday evening on WBZ-TV.
