BOSTON (CBS) – Mayor Tom Menino has been hospitalized with a virus since Friday, his office says.

Spokesperson Dot Joyce said Sunday, Menino returned from a trip to Italy and wasn’t feeling well. After a series of tests, doctors determined it was a virus and he is being treated at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital at least through the weekend.

“He is engaged in decisions being made for preps for Sandy,” Joyce said.

In 2010, Menino was hospitalized after a cut he got on his elbow during a trip to Italy became infected.
