BOSTON (CBS/AP) – The death toll in a nationwide fungal meningitis outbreak tied to a Framingham pharmacy increased to 25 on Friday.
A total of 18 states have now reported victims of the outbreak; Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention reported 338 illnesses, including three joint infections. Eleven of those patients are from New Hampshire.
The CDC has said the outbreak is among patients who received epidural steroid injections that were made by the New England Compounding Center, a specialty pharmacy in Framingham
