LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say two people have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the daylight shooting of a Lowell man on a Lawrence street last month.

The Essex district attorney’s office said in a statement Tuesday that 32-year-old Jose Rivera and 18-year-old Albert Vasquez, both of Lawrence, were arrested in connection with the Sept. 9 death of Martin Butt.

The 28-year-old Butt was shot in the head and chest. Prosecutors have said the shooting was drug related.

The suspects are scheduled to be arraigned later Tuesday in Lawrence District Court.

Two other people have previously been charged with being an accessory before the fact of murder in Butt’s death.
