Congressman John Tierney's Wife Treated After Car Crash

BEVERLY (AP) — The wife of Democratic U.S. Rep. John Tierney has been treated at a hospital and released after a car crash.

According to a statement from Tierney's campaign, Patrice Tierney's car was hit from behind by another vehicle Tuesday morning. No other details were provided.

Patrice Tierney was taken to Beverly Hospital and later released. The statement said she was wearing her seat belt.

John Tierney is locked in a tough re-election fight in the 6th District against Republican Richard Tisei.

Tierney's campaign manager says the congressman may adjust his campaign schedule for a couple of days to help care for his wife.

Patrice Tierney was convicted last year of filing false tax returns for one of her two brothers accused of running an illegal offshore gambling ring.
