ROCHESTER, NH (CBS) – Police in Rochester, New Hampshire are investigating a crash early Sunday morning that the driver is blaming on a deer.
Officers found a gray GMC 2500 pickup on its roof on the side of Chestnut Hill Road around 3 a.m.
The driver was nowhere to be found.
Eight-and-a-half hours later, the truck’s owner, 22-year-old Joseph Melanson of Middleton, New Hampshire reported the crash to police.
He said he had swerved to avoid a deer, over corrected, and rolled the truck.
Melanson was not wearing his seat belt and suffered minor injuries to his face.
A resident reported hearing a car race by, followed by a loud crash.
Police say the accident is still under investigation.
They are asking anyone with information about the crash to call them.
