WEYMOUTH (CBS) - Eight people were taken to the hospital in a head-on crash on Green Street Tuesday afternoon.
Police say a mini-van carrying special needs adults crossed the double yellow lines around noon time and hit a Pontiac Grand Am sedan which drove up onto a sidewalk trying to avoid the wrong-way driver.
Rescuers used the Jaws of Life to free some people from the wreck.
The driver of the Pontiac, a 47-year-old Weymouth resident was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The 37-year-old driver of the van was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
All six adults in the van were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Police said they expect to issue citations once they finish investigating.
