WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) — Police in Rhode Island say an 18-month-old boy has died after reportedly being struck by a bookshelf that had tipped over.

Woonsocket police say the toddler was pronounced dead at Landmark Medical center Monday afternoon after emergency crews responded to a report of a medical emergency.

Police were told that a wooden bookshelf had tipped over onto the boy’s chest.

Authorities say an investigation into the death is continuing.
