BOSTON (AP) — An 18th century silver brandy warmer and an antique pie server as well as precious metals, rare coins and jewelry are among the items up for grabs at the state’s annual unclaimed property auction.
Treasurer Steven Grossman says some items for sale will be displayed publicly next week before being put posted on Internet auction site eBay Oct. 20.
Most items came from safe deposit boxes with contents that have gone unclaimed for nine years.
Grossman says the state makes every effort to reunite unclaimed property with its rightful owner before selling it.
Last year’s auction raised more than $434,000 for the state’s general fund.
The stuff for sale will be put on public display Monday in Boston; Tuesday in Yarmouth; Wednesday in New Bedford; Thursday in Springfield; and Friday in Worcester.
