BOSTON (CBS) – Nighttime commuters in Boston are facing some big hassles on the road. The normally heavily-traveled westbound side of Storrow Drive was closed to traffic Monday night so crews could begin a $3.1 million project to repair a crumbling tunnel.
“A lot of people have to use Storrow drive,” one delivery man told WBZ.
A doctor driving through said it will impact his work. “I drive in from Brookline after hours when I’m on-call, and that’s going to be tough,” he says. “It’s going to take awhile. I have to come in for emergencies potentially.”
The road will close every weeknight from the Longfellow Bridge to Clarendon Street. One eastbound lane will also close at certain times. The closures are scheduled from 9:00pm until 5:00am through mid-December. Police are directing traffic to detour onto Memorial Drive.
