Police shot and killed a man on Wales Street in Taunton
TAUNTON (CBS) – A 34-year-old man was shot and killed by a police officer in Taunton Thursday afternoon.
Police say the man, David Arraiol, was wanted on outstanding warrants, and was approached by officers at the intersection of Wales and Mason Streets when he immediately began walking away. Police followed Arraiol as he entered a driveway outside a home on Wales Street and hid behind a vehicle.
He then reappeared with a handgun drawn.
Police say they ordered him to drop the weapon, but he refused. An officer then shot Arraiol, who was taken to Morton Hospital in Taunton where he was pronounced dead.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s office is investigating.
