American Airlines Flights May Be Canceled While Seats Are Secured

BOSTON (CBS) – American Airlines say they have finished inspecting 48 aircraft that were grounded after rows of seats became loose on some flights.

All the planes are back in service, but the airline says it's taking extra steps to secure the seats. Mechanics will work on the aircraft after they land at their next destination.

Some flights may be delayed or canceled to complete the work.

The repairs should be done by Saturday.

"We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience this may cause with their travel plans," American Airlines spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said in a statement. "The safety of our customers and people as well as the reliability of our fleet is always of utmost priority to American."

Two American Airlines flights had to be diverted in the past week when rows of seats became loose.
