WAYLAND (CBS) – A driver escaped from a horrifying accident in Wayland over the weekend without a scratch.
Fifty-seven-year-old Pamela Mauer was driving her Nissan Altima down Woodridge Road just before 8 p.m. Sunday when a rotted tree suddenly fell apart and landed on top of her car.
The tree, which was three feet in diameter, brought down wires as well.

The car was crushed and the wires sparked a fire.
Firefighters were able to pull Mauer out of the car through the backseat.
She was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a precaution.
Mauer told WBZ-TV Monday she wasn’t hurt, but the fire did singe some of her clothes.
WBZ-TV’s Paul Burton contributed to this report.
