Wellfleet Police: Woman Intending To Shoot Raccoon Trips, Shoots Self

WELLFLEET (CBS) – A woman who went outside late Wednesday night to shoot a raccoon ended up shooting herself.

Wellfleet police say 31-year-old Kerrilee Zimmerman of East Bridgewater was out on Parkington Hill Road just after 11 p.m. with a pellet gun intending to shoot a raccoon.

But she tripped and accidentally shot herself once in the chest.

She was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The raccoon got away, Police Chief Ronald Fisette told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Thursday.
