Boston Red Sox

BOSTON (CBS) – A big tip of the hat once again to Dr. Charles Steinberg and his staff for another great ceremony Tuesday night celebrating the 2004 Boston Red Sox World Series winning team.

It will be a tough one to top, but they’ll try their best (and likely succeed) Wednesday night as the Red Sox close out their Fenway portion of the 2012 schedule.

With Fenway Park’s 100th season coming to an end, the team will close out their anniversary celebrations by announcing the All-Time Fenway park team. Three players from each position will be honored, as well as a number of pitchers.

Report: Varitek Close To New Job With Sox

With that said, I thought I’d have some fun and try to come up with the all-time best Red Sox line-up, rotation, and bullpen.

Lineup:

Wade Boggs, 3B

Bobby Doerr, 2B

Ted Williams, LF

Jimmy Foxx, 1B

Carl Yastrzemski, DH

Joe Cronin, SS

Tris Speaker, CF

Harry Hooper, RF

Carlton Fisk, C

On the Bench: Nomar Garciaparra, Rico Petrocelli, Jerry Remy, Tommy Harper, Frank Malzone, Jimmy Collins, Dwight Evans, Fred Lynn, Manny Ramirez, Jason Varitek, Rick Ferrell, George Scott, Rick Burleson, Mike Greenwell, Mo Vaughn, Dustin Pedroia, Jim Rice, David Ortiz

Rotation:

Pedro Martinez, SP

Cy Young, SP

Roger Clemens, SP

Luis Tiant, SP

Mel Parnell, SP

(other notables: Curt Schilling, Bruce Hurst, Babe Ruth)

Recap: Price Shuts Down Red Sox

Bullpen:

Jonathan Papelbon, C

Bob Stanley, RP

Dick Radatz, RP

Mike Timlin, RP

Jeff Reardon, RP

Tom Gordon, RP

Hideki Okajima, RP

And of course, I’d have Terry Francona on the bench for this. The options are endless, so let me know what your All-Red Sox team would be!
