RI Man Charged In Fatal Drunk Driving Accident Appears In Court

ATTLEBORO (CBS) – Police say 24-year-old Kaisha Guerrini was killed by an alleged drunk driver who crashed into her car.

On Tuesday, the family of the young mom from North Attleboro faced the man blamed for her death.

"She was a good girl," says Edward Guerrini, Kaisha's grandfather. "She was trying to make a good life for herself. I feel bad for him too, but he did it."

Guerrini has a three-year-old son and was a member of the National Guard.

Guerrini was heading south on Route 152 when police say 32-year-old Jason Kwolek crossed the line and smashed into her car. Kwolek, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island appeared in court Tuesday.

Prosecutors detailed Kwolek's alleged night of drinking of driving which they say included another accident prior to the one that killed Guerrini.

Kwolek was charged with manslaughter and released after posting $15,000 bail.

Kaisha's funeral will be held Friday and will be observed with full military honors.
