COTUIT (CBS) – The driver of a car that slammed into a tree and burst into flames on the Cape is 14 years old, according to Barnstable Police.
The teen, whose name has not been released, was driving on Main Street around 10:45 p.m. Thursday when he crashed.
It’s not clear yet why he was driving or what caused him to lose control of the car, which belonged to his family, police said.
The boy was seriously hurt. He was rushed to the hospital on a MedFlight rescue helicopter.
He’s charged with operating to endanger and driving without a license.
