Children's Hospital Doctor Charged With Child Porn Worked At 2 Summer Camps

BOSTON (CBS) - A local camp for boys with diabetes is alerting parents that a pediatrician accused of collecting child pornography spent decades working with the organization.

Camp Joslin in Charlton has put a statement on its website letting parents know about the investigation into Dr. Richard Keller, who was arrested last Thursday after he allegedly bought more than 50 DVDs of child pornography online.

Investigators said they also found more than 500 photographs and 60-to-100 DVDs of child porn in his Andover home.

Keller, 56, is an endocrinologist at Boston Children's Hospital. He was immediately put on administrative leave pending results of the investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

"Dr. Keller had an association with Camp Joslin starting in the early 80's after he completed his training as a pediatric endocrinologist. His association with the camp has continued off and on through this past summer; we have no information that any of the current charges are related to the camp or Keller's association with it," the camp said in a statement on its website.

Camp Joslin was sold in August 2010 to the Barton Center for Diabetes Education.

Keller is the former medical director at Phillips Academy and, according to the Boston Globe, he was also involved with Camp Mah-Kee-Nac in Lenox, a summer camp in the Berkshires.
