Tourist's Apparent Cannoli Craving Leads To Armed Robbery Charges In North End
BOSTON (CBS) - A North End tourist with an apparent late-night cannoli craving is facing armed robbery charges.
Police say Robert McTernan, 25, of Newbridge, Ireland, walked into the kitchen at Bova's Bakery around 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning and picked up a kitchen knife.
Police say he proceeded to walk up to a worker and demand a cannoli. The worker handed over the cannoli and McTernan left.
Police arrested him outside the bakery, but were unable to find the knife.
McTernan, who had flown into Boston just hours earlier for a two-week vacation, was arrested.
A judge ordered him held on $2,000 bail. McTernan also had to surrender his passport and must stay away from Bova's.
