BOSTON (AP) — Christopher Sheldon has been confirmed the winner of the Republican primary in the state’s reconfigured 9th congressional district five days after the election.
Official results released by the Secretary of State’s office Tuesday show the Plymouth businessman and Plymouth County Charter Commissioner beating Adam Chaprales of Barnstable by just 79 votes.
The official results reversed unofficial results the day after the election that showed Chaprales winning by fewer than 40 votes.
Sheldon will face freshman Democratic U.S. Rep. William Keating in the general election.
Chaprales tells the Cape Cod Times that he concedes and backs Sheldon against Keating. He says he respect the will of the voters.
