MALDEN, Mass. (AP) — Police say a teenager has been shot in the back while riding a bicycle in Malden and another teen is facing charges.

Authorities say 17-year-old Tyrell Berberena Jr., of Malden, was charged with armed assault to murder and possession of a high-capacity firearm following the shooting Monday in a restaurant parking lot.

The 17-year-old victim was riding through the parking lot of the Sun Kong restaurant when he was shot. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. His name was not made public.

Authorities say the two teens knew each other but have not disclosed a motive.

Berberena is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Malden District Court.
