BOSTON (CBS) - Two Boston schools are among the 269 nationwide recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan as National Blue Ribbon Schools.
City On A Hill Charter Public School and Fenway High School earned the recognition based on their overall academic excellence or for making progress in improving student academic achievement levels.
Two other Massachusetts schools were also named: Hull High School and Westwood High School.
The 219 public schools and 50 private schools will be honored at a ceremony in Washington in December.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools.
Duncan said the winning schools “are committed to accelerating student achievement and preparing students for success in college.”
