Coast Guard Calls Off Search For Missing Kayaker Off Swampscott

SWAMPSCOTT (CBS) – The Coast Guard announced it will call off the search for a man who was reported missing off Fisherman’s Beach in Swampscott Saturday afternoon.

The Coast Guard said the man, 23-year-old Maryan Lisovich, was kayaking and was expected to return to Fisherman’s Beach around 4:30 on Saturday afternoon.  When he did not, his girlfriend called police.  Police called in the Coast Guard to assist.

“He was reported to be in a blue kayak; no shirt, no life jacket and red swim trunks,” said Lt. Garrett Meyer of the Coast Guard. “We’re out there looking for him.”

Police say the kayak was found, but there is no sign of Lisovich.

The search concluded as of sundown on Sunday.
