It was a warm and humid day but at least there wasn’t any rain and although there are some strong storms to our west in New York they should fade later tonight as they approach. The coldfront triggering those storms will washout out over New England late tonight allowing for the muggy air to continue to build on southerly flow. Not only will the humidity build but so will the heat…highs tomorrow will reach the middle 80s with only a slight chance for a storm to pop in the afternoon.
The weekend is looking a bit better than it did yesterday. A pattern changing front will be marching our way driven by a digging mid-level trough. This front will be plowing into a very warm and soupy airmass triggering a line of soaking downpours. The line won’t be very wide but it will be intense, thankfully it is looking now that the front will be progressive and won’t stall over us. Thus, the opportunity to get wet will be limited to late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
A gift awaits us on the other side of the front for late Sunday through the middle of next week…a taste of Autumn weather! I’m expecting lots of sunshine, very dry air, temps in the 70s during the day and 40s at night! This will no doubt have you thinking about pumpkins, apples and fall foliage!
