FALL RIVER (CBS) – A stretch of heavy rain hit southeastern Massachusetts late Wednesday morning, leaving several streets flooded.

Fall River was one of the hardest hit communities, receiving more than five inches of rain Wednesday. Multiple cars were trapped in flood waters which rose as much as five feet deep.

National Grid told WBZ-TV more than 2,500 customers had lost power in Fall River.

The National Weather Service extended a Flash Flood Warning for parts of Barnstable, Bristol and Plymouth Counties until 4 p.m.
