SOMERVILLE (CBS) – Three men have been arrested after a routine traffic stop turned into a weapons bust in Somerville.
It started when police pulled over a 2004 BMW for speeding on Medford Street at about 4 p.m. Sunday.
Officers said the driver, 37-year-old Sherwood Gustave of Mattapan, had a suspended license.
He was arrested and backup officers were called in. An empty pistol holster was found on the rear seat, according to investigators.
The two passengers, 18-year-old Anthony Paulino of Somerville and 47-year-old Gunter Vital of Cambridge, were then taken out of the car.
Officers said that’s when they found eight handguns. Six of them were fully loaded.
Two of the guns were stolen.
All three were charged with unlawful possession of handguns and ammunition. None of them had a license to carry a weapon.
They were arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Somerville District Court.
Gustave was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail, Vital on $25,000, and Paulino on $500.
